Visiting Vancouver
From Fmepedia
For those of you who come to Vancouver to visit Safe or for FME training or user conferences, here's a few items about Vancouver and Beautiful British Columbia...
Those of you who come to visit Vancouver for other reasons - why not visit the Safe office anyway (there's bound to be one rainy day - and our office is warm, has good coffee and a foosball table).

Vancouver Attractions
Tourist Attractions
Cultural
A main cultural attraction in Vancouver is the Museum of Anthropology (http://www.moa.ubc.ca/) located at the University of British Columbia (UBC).
Sporting
Want to see an Ice Hockey game? Our NHL team is the Vancouver Canucks (http://www.canucks.com/) - but the cheaper and more entertaining option is the Vancouver Giants (http://www.vancouvergiants.com/home.htm).
Feeling athletic? There's always the Grouse Grind (http://hiking.grousemountain.com/grousegrind) hiking trail - for which there is an annual race (http://hiking.grousemountain.com/grousegrind/mountainrun).
Want to ski? Check out the Vancouver+Whistler skiing (http://www.discovervancouver.ca/ski/) information.

TV + Movie Locations
Did you know that Vancouver is known as Hollywood North (or Brollywood because of the tendancy to rain a lot).
Here's a brief list of locations used in Vancouver (http://www.darrenbarefoot.com/archives/2005/11/recognizable-vancouver-locations-in-films.html). In "The Sixth Day", Vancouver library exploded (luckily it was just special effects).
The first 5 series of the x-files were filmed in Vancouver. There are several x-files tours that show you filming locations.
And here's a mashup of celebrity sightings in Vancouver (http://www.jaunted.com/maps/Chasing-Vancouver).
Getting Here and Getting About
See the Translink web site (http://www.translink.bc.ca/) for public transport information.
The Vancouver Airport (http://www.yvr.ca/) web site has info on arrivals and departures plus other useful travel info.
Getting to the Safe Office by Public Transit
There are a few bus routes that pass within walking distance of the office:
Northbound: The 324 and 323 bus routes both come from the Surrey Central skytrain station, and are the best way to get to the office if you live along the train line:
- The 324 is more direct, it goes right down 132nd St. to the office. The stop on 132nd at Comber Way is right across the street from the office. Busses leave the station every 30 minutes in the mornings (8:05, 8:35, 9:05) and return every half hour in the evenings (4:40, 5:10, 5:40).
- The 323 goes down 128th, and cuts eastbound on 76th Ave. The stop on 76th and 132nd is closest to the office. Busses leave and return every 30 minutes, staggered 15 minutes from the 324.
Westbound: From Delta, take the 301 or 340 westbound to Scottsdale Mall. Catch this bus on 72nd Ave (just south of the office) at 132nd. From Scottsdale, take the C76 shuttle, which goes to Ladner Exchange.
