From Fmepedia

Thanks to a few glob-trotting FME fans who have sent in a whole new collection of photgraphs, we now have a second Safe Around the World Challenge available.

If you are new to the Safe Around the World Challenge, our first Safe Around the World Challenge begins below. We recommend you try this one first before continuing to round two of the Safe Around the World Challenge.

Begin the Safe Around the World Challenge

How well do you know this amazing blue planet we call home? Join the Safe Around the World Challenge and find out!

Over the past year we've noticed that Safe Software gear really gets around. So we assembled a collection of snapshots taken by Safe staff and FME users that show Safe merchandise in interesting locations around the globe. Now you get to test your explorer savvy and guess just where these snapshots were taken! We hope you'll be so inspired, you'll send us some snapshots of your own for the next Challenge.

Why We're Hosting the Challenge

It's a privilege to live in a day and age where applications like Google Earth allow us all to be "locationally aware" explorers. With the collective knowledge of users from all over world displayed on a common interface, individuals now have access to one of the most exciting and interactive atlases the world has ever seen.

But being more aware of the location of a unique locale in no way diminishes the wonder of its beauty, culture, or history. The Safe Around The World Challenge is our way of celebrating the wonders of our world, and FME's role in helping users manage the spatial data that helps map this world.

Are You Ready to Test Your Recognition of Famous Landmarks?

Some real estate just never moves! This property has been vacant for over 800 years. Admittedly, a cliff-face dwelling is not very suitable for toddlers... The people who lived here are today known as Sinagua, which is Spanish for "without water."

The view from this 190 meter tower takes in a long mountain range to the west and a flat plane stretching far to the east. The first European known to have visited this area was a cartographer named David Thompson, who visited this region in 1787. The city was originally named Fort Brisebois after Inspector Ephrem Brisebois – a politician, soldier, and police officer who lobbied against the slaughter of buffalo. Brisebois fell from favor over the lack of discipline amongst his men, and the city was renamed.
