Future Development Item This page refers to FME functionality either currently under development or planned for development sometime in the future. |
The FME Feature Source for MapGuide Enterprise is the tentative name for the product that will replace the FME Provider for MapGuide in extending Autodesk MapGuide.
This product will support MapGuide Enterprise 2008 and above. We are hoping to have MapGuide Enterprise 2008 support in the FME 2008 betas before the end of 2007.
At this point we are not planning to offer support for MapGuide Enterprise 2007. This is mostly because Autodesk is in the process of transitioning from FDO 3.1 (MapGuide Enterprise 2007) to FDO 3.2 (MapGuide Enterprise 2008) and it seems a bit late in the game to target the older technology. There’s been talk of doing something specifically to connect MapGuide Enterprise 2007 to FME’s ArcSDE reader if there is any user demand. In the meantime, you could publish the ArcSDE data to SDF3 using FME 2007. That’s the way we used to support clients in the olden days when the FME Provider for MapGuide did not exist.
Points of Interest:
- The format support in the FME Feature Source for MapGuide Enterprise product will be the read-only equivalent of FME Server. In particular, it will include the high-end raster formats like ArcSDE and Oracle.
- The pricing for FME Feature Source for Map Guide Enterprise will be the same as the FME Provider for MapGuide.
- Owners of FME Provider for MapGuide will be entitled to a free upgrade to FME Feature Source for MapGuide Enterprise provided their AMC is up to date.
