We (the support team at Safe) had the idea that we could throw out challenges to our users. A task that would be a good example of FME use and useful to a number of FME'ers; the sort of thing that crops up on the FME Talk (http://groups.google.com/group/fmetalk) user group or the example workspaces page here on fmepedia. And, of course, something innovative that will tax the brains of our FME community.


Good examples would be...

  • Geometry cleanup tools; sliver removal, self-intersection fixes etc
  • Format support; a custom format for a particular type of data
  • Geometric processing; for example creating a road network with attributes from a basemap
  • Other fun stuff; Peter Barnes kiteboard designer springs to mind - (see this message on the old FME user group (http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/fme/message/9358))


So we'll issue challenges here when we can think of them - but why not issue a challenge yourself if you have a good one (preferably one that will help all users, not just you!)
